The year 2020 was one of the strangest periods in years. In a few months everything changed, even interior design trends! Almost every house had to (often quickly) arrange a place to work remotely. What will be trending next year? Get ready for the changes!
Back to nature
Longing for nature is the leitmotif of this year. Searching for contact with nature took on a literal meaning at that time due to unexpected closure in homes and lack of possibility to travel freely. 2020 was the year that our interiors began to breathe, and in a literal sense, because instead of plastic and artificial decorations, we bet on living, green plants. If you think that the biofilm trend in design will pass, you are wrong!
Next year, the colors of the earth will be fashionable (sunburned sand color, deep olive, khaki, shades of beige, cinnamon and caramel). These colors will bring peace and stability to the interior, most often combined with the Scandinavian and boho style.
Wallpapers with a botanical motif
Although floral and plant compositions were already chic this year, next year the vogue for the urban jungle will flourish. Not only will live plants be the basis of the botanical climate, but also delicate, field, wild flowers and ... artificial spikes of grain, grasses and flowery bouquets. This ubiquitous botanical rush will make us keep Mother Nature indoors for longer.
Eco-styled and second hand stuff
Until recently we surrounded ourselves with white, simple furniture in Scandinavian style. Next year we will see rattan, wicker and bamboo furniture in earthy colors next to them. Furniture made of natural materials does not have to dominate the whole interior, just simple accessory such as a chair or a table will be fine.
With the onset of pandemics and virtual shopping, second hand ornaments and home accessories are experiencing their renaissance. You will find them at antiques fairs, online auctions and in specially dedicated stores. Second hand furniture and accessories will bring a unique atmosphere to every interior. Fashion for second-hand items has a good impact on the planet and the environment, so designers emphasize that the vintage trend is heading in the right direction.
Beige total look - a good idea for the kitchen and living room
The colors of the earth are also referred to as beige, from the brightest to the sunburned desert shade. The beige total look fits perfectly into a kitchen or living room open to a Scandinavian style kitchen. Beige has many shades and their combinations are neutral, so they can be successfully used in any interior.
Metal and wicker combinations
Unusual, original and elegant - combinations of metal - rattan, glass - wicker will often be encountered in the coming season. Where did you get this idea from? From the combination of fading interest in loft and boho style, original and unique design, yet incredibly elegant this is it! In addition to elegant metal, a marble motif in various forms will also be fashionable - as accessories to the interior design, wallpaper on the wall, tiles on the floor.
Stylish home-office
The home office model of working will stay with us forever. So why not make a place to work in a fashionable and functional way? Lots of greenery, vivid plants, botanical motifs and bright colors - this is how a place to work should look like, so that you can let your eyes rest while working in a comfortable and efficient way.
Bet on pastels and dark colors
After a cool, classic blue, it is time for a bottle-green, purple, blue, mustard yellow, powder pink and delicate black. This will be accompanied by earthy colors such as khaki, olive, warm and cool shades of brown. There will be plenty to choose from!
This sudden turn towards the colors of nature, the floral decorative trends indicate one thing - people long for the opportunity to commune with nature, carefree running around the flowering meadow, spontaneous trips to the mountains. We wish you and yourself that next year will bring lightness and carefulness to all of us, and in the meantime be inspired by the upcoming trends for 2021 and make your own safe nest in your home.
